Africa’s International Economic Forum

(PANA)--The Cameroonian capital of Yaounde will host Africa’s International Economic Forum (FEIA) 8-11 July, according to organisers Cameroonian Mining Industry and Technological Development.

The forum, with the theme: "Investments and Industrial Partnerships in Africa: Assessment and Perspectives", will be attended by about 10, 000 visitors and 500 exhibitors.

Topics to be discussed cover investment issue in Africa: ways for Cameroon; the role of energy in industrial development, and the contribution of information and communication technologies in promoting and accelerating investments in Africa.

Also to be discussed are the role of the National Investment Company (SNI) in attracting investments; ethics and governance in business environment; how to make agri-business the growth engine as well as investment opportunities in the Cameroonian tourism.

An exhibition of products and technologies, workshops on stimulating women’s entrepreneurship, opportunities for bank funding, identification of business opportunities, factors for a successful public-private investment partnership, technology transfer, operational facilitation of investments in Africa, the impact of regional projects on economic integration and the strategic positioning of African companies over globalisation are planned on the sidelines of the forum

According to Nicolas Happy Nya, an official of the Industry ministry, who is also the technical coordinator for the forum, the platform will promote investment in Africa by providing economic partners from southern and northern countries "a framework for consultation and business opportunities".

"The forum will help integrate the production structures in countries present, forge cooperation agreements, improve the level of technology transfer and establish a joint fund for setting up businesses among countries," he said.
