Working Visit of the AU Commission

(Press Release)--At the kind invitation of the chairperson of the African Union (AU), Brother Leader Muammar Al-Gaddafi, Leader of the Revolution of the Great Socialist People’s Arab Libyan Jamahiriya, a delegation of the Commission, led by its chairperson, Mr. Jean Ping, has undertaken a working visit to Tripoli from 21 to 23 February 2009.

Nigeria Taunts South Africa, Egypt

Konye Obaji Ori (Afrik)--With the looming possibility of a permanent seat allotted to Africa in the United Nations Security Council, African countries have began to lock horns in a diplomatic tug-of-war over which country will occupy the seat. Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Libya, Senegal, Kenya, and Botswana have all shown interest.

ECOWAS Sends Delegation to Guinea Bissau

(APA)--The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) announced on Monday that it is sending a foreign ministerial delegation to Bissau, in the wake of the crisis precipitated by the assassination of President João Bernardo Nino Vieira of Guinea-Bissau and General Tagme na Waie, chief of defence staff of the armed forces, in separate incidents.

AU Seeks to Reduce Self-inflicted Diseases
