AU and Japan Discuss Development in Africa
Press Release - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Professor Alpha Oumar Konare, will on Wednesday 20 February 2008, at 15:00 pm. receive in audience Ms. Sadako Ogata, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss and exchange views on recent African developments and human security in a bid to enhance economic growth on the continent.
After the audience with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Ms. Sadako Ogata will address some African Union Permanent Representatives, Representatives of the United Nations, partners and other institutions and organisation based in Addis Ababa, on the theme: "Present Conditions and Perspective of African Development from the View Point of Human Security". The discussion will take place in the plenary hall of the African Union.
Ms. Ogata will be accompanied on her visit by the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Kinichi KOMANO.
Meanwhile, a Press Conference scheduled for 17:00 will crown the occasion. The Press Conference will be chaired by Ms. Sadako Ogata.
Worth recalling that, the Ms. Ogata’s visit falls within the framework of the upcoming Tokyo International Conference for African Development IV (TICAD IV) due to take place from May 28 to 30, 2008 and the G8 Toyako Summit billed for July 7 to 9, 2008.
