Retreat of Ministers of Foreign Affairs to Debate Union Government
From May 8-9, 2007, the Executive Council of the African Union will hold a retreat of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Durban, South Africa to debate the union government proposal in advance of the Heads of States Summit in June. The purpose of the retreat is to “undertake in-depth discussions on the nature of the continent’s integration agenda in order to determine where we are, where we are going, when and how to get there.” In addition to the retreat, the second conference of African Ministers in charge of Integration (Aide_Memoire_eng.doc) will be held on 7 – 11 June 2007 in Kigali, Rwanda, under the general theme ”Accelerating Regional Integration to Support the Growth and Development of our Countries”.
