AU Emissary Back in Nouakchott
(PANA)--The African Union (AU) Commissioner for Peace and Security, Algeria’s Ramadan Al-Amamra, arrivedin Nouakchott Sunday in his third mission as an emissary of Jean Ping, the chairman of the AU Commission since the military coup that ousted the administration of elected President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi 6 August, official sources told PANA
Al-Amamra is expected to stay in the Mauritanian capital for several days. Meanwhile, Al-Amamra Monday began a series of contacts with the members of the country’s new governing body, the High State Council (HCE), the government, the political community and the civil society, in order to find a solution to the current crisis.
The Mauritanian National Assembly Sunday adopted a resolution to end the crisis and provide, in particular, for the opening of a national dialogue, the setting up of an enlarged coalition government and the organisation, after a 12 to 14 months transition, of general elections excluding the participation of members of the army
