Kadhafi Receives UN, AU Emissaries to DRC
(PANA)--Libyan leader and Chairman of the African Union (AU), Mouammar Kadhafi, Wednesday evening in Tripoli, received the United Nations (UN) emissary to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, and that of the African Union (AU) to the country, former Tanzanian President, Benjamin Mkapa.
An official Libyan source said the two emissaries informed Kadhafi about the latest developments of the situation in DRC, the ongoing peace and reconciliation process in the country and the improvement of its relations with Rwanda.
The two former presidents also reiterated their willingness to regularly inform the AU chairman about the situation in DRC and the Great Lakes and to build on his vision and wisdom in resolving tension in the region, hailing his sustained role for achieving peace and building stability in the African continent. On his part, Kadhafi expressed support to the efforts of the two emissaries so that DRC can overcome the current situation facing it, focus on its development and contribute to the completion of AU building.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary for African Affairs at the Libyan general people’s committee for External relations and international cooperation, also Chairman of AU executive council, Dr. Ali Triki.
