A Delegation of the Forum of Kings in Tripoli

(PANA)--The chairperson of the African Union (AU), the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, received, on Monday, a delegation of the Forum of kings, sultans and traditional leaders of Africa who came from a tour of the headquarters of the Commission of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.

The delegation, according to an official Libyan source, presented a report to the Libyan leader on their visit to the headquarters of the European Union, and the outcome of their discussion with the President of the peacekeeping commission of the United Nations in Africa, Romano Prodi. Kings and traditional leaders in Africa used the occasion to praise ‘the success of the visit during which they held talks with EU leaders on a broad range of issues that concern Africa’. They stressed that the merit of the trip’s success lied with the Libyan leader who allowed them to ‘go a long way towards the recognition of their influence by African and international institutions’.

The delegation consisted of the king Jean Gervais Tchiffi Zie of Côte d’Ivoire who is in charge of overseeing regional meetings of African dignitaries, Tossah Gbaguidi XIII, king of Savalou in Benin and Bijin Hamatou, sultan of the Tuareg tribe in Mali. The Libyan leader, for his part, reiterated his support for the activities of the Forum of kings, sultans and traditional leaders in Africa.
