African Youth Day 2007
Message from H.E. Prof Alpha Oumar Konare, Chairperson of the African Union Commission on the Commemoration of the African Youth Day 2007 under the theme “Partnership between the Youth and public authiorities”.
“I convey my sincere congratulations and my best wishes for Success, Health, Peace and Prosperity to all African Youth within the continent and the Diaspora, on this memorable day of 1st November 2007, a day our youths are celebrating the African Youth Day.
Along with the entire continent I congratulate the African Youth for their dynamism, perseverance and spirit of leadership lead to celebrate for the first time the African Youth Day. Next year we will celebrate together once again the Year of African Youth and in November 2006 we launched together the African Youth Charter! Those significant achievements strongly demonstrate that the youth are working actively and that public and private institutions are not only interested in partnership with the youth but are also concerned with the promotion of the youth. If we keep this momentum, and as defined by the theme of the African Youth Day 2007, « Partnership between the Youth and public authorities » and if we concretely strengthen our partnership, we would be able to involve the creative, pacifist and volunteer opportunities of the Youth within the process of modernizing and improving governance and sustainable development of Africa.
On this African Youth Day 2007 and with the perspective to reinforce the partnership between the Youth and public authorities towards the development of the continent, I have the honour to solemnly urge all the Heads of State and Government, all Parliamentarians and all Ministers in charge of Youth of the African Union to take the necessary diligent actions to sign, ratify and implement as soon as possible the African Youth Charter. The African Youth Charter in all its aspects is an efficient and innovative tool to promote the Youth. It carries values that that include: excellence, peace, integrity, participation, respect of the human rights and the Environment. Let’s us together popularize and promote it so as to consolidat
