Results of ECOSOCC Elections

Press Release—Eight African Organisations of the Civil Society have been elected as members of the Economic Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC).
The elections took place on Wednesday 31st October 2007, during the First ECOSOCC General Assembly at the headquarters of the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The eight elected Continental Civil Society Organisations are:

• The Pan African women’s Organization (Angola)
• The African Women’s Development Communication Network-FEMNET- (Kenya)
• The Pan African Lawyers Union – PALU - (Cameron)
• Femmes Africa Solidarité -FAS-(Sénégal)
• The Organization of African Trade Union Unity – OATUU - (Ghana)
• The Pan-African Employers’ Confederation (Kenya)
• The Network of African Peace Builders-NAPS- (Zombie)
• The Africa Internally Displaced Persons Voice-Africa IDP Voice- (Zambie)

The elections of the CSOs Representatives to the ECOSOCC General Assembly was preceded by an opening ceremony, followed by the presentation of the rules and legal procedures in matters of elections in relation to the ECOSOCC membership.
