AU Holds Discussion on Human Security
Press Release-The Department of Social Affairs of the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy and the International Federation of Birth Control (IPPF), will today Friday 9 November 2007, hold a round table discussion on the theme: “ Human Security: Addressing the African Development Agenda” at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The round table discussions will focus on the following issues:
• The Social Aspects of Africa’s Development Agenda
• The Role of Human Security in Africa’s Development
• Sexual and Reproductive Health and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
• The Africa Health Strategy and
• Poverty and Environment.
The Objective of this consultation meeting is to encourage the African Union, the governments, the Civil Society, the Regional Economic Communities, the Private Sector, and the Development Agencies to elaborate a strategy build on Human Security for Development in Africa.
