This event is organised by the Ahfad University for Women, the Babikar Badri Scientific Association for Women, the Solidarity for African Women’s Rights Coalition and in collaboration with the Women, Gender and Development Directorate of the African Union Commission. It seeks to share continental progress on the ratification of the African Union Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women and current initiatives towards implementation of the Protocol. On November 25th, the Protocol came into force with the required ratification of fifteen states. With this, attention has shifted to universal ratification and implementation and ultimately, rights realisation for women and girls.
