Europe Africa Business Summit

(Leadership)—New Economic Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) council, has concluded all arrangement to host Europe Africa Business Summit between 28th and 30th April 2008 in Hamburg- Germany

A statement from the company’s corporate head office said that Europe Africa business summit 2008 is the first biennial Europe-Africa business summit to take place in Europe in recent time, organised by private non-governmental bodies and strive to increase European private sector awareness of many commercial opportunities in Africa.

According to the statement, the summit is aimed at providing a critical assessment of the current state and future of the European African economic relationships.

It further explained that the summit will, among other things, present a critical assessment of the current trade and investment climate in Africa, and adders specific policy issues that confront the European private sector in the African market place. It will identify specific intra-and inter regional needs in Africa and encourage multi-lateral co-operation between. International investors and role-players, business practitioners and policy makers.

"The purpose of the summit also, is to identify and review the need for trade -related technical assistant and capacity building in terms of partnership with Africa, showcase key development initiatives to the private and public sectors of the many commercial opportunities on both continents, and also offer biannual international platform for Europe and African enterprises, business leadership, policy makers, academics to share ideas." the statement said.

The statement explained further, that key eminent Nigerians such as Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, chairman dangote group of company, chief Ikechi Ohaki, executive governor of Imo state, Ms Evelyn Oputu, managing director Bank of Industry, Mr. Donald Duke, immediate past governor of Cross River state, chief Adutimi Alaibe, chief executive NDDC, Mr. Charles Ugwu, minister of commerce and industry , chief Ojo Mduekwe, foreign Affairs minister among others are expected to grace the occasion.

In a related development, NEPAD has appointed African Business Networking (ABN) limited as its official business consultant for the upcoming summit.
