Kadhafi and Sarkozy Talk
PANA—Libyan leader Moammar Kadhafi and French President Nicolas Sarkozy held a telephone conversation Tuesday evening as part of permanent consultations between both countries on issues of common interest, Libyan official sources disclosed here Wednesday.
The sources said the discussion also concerned preparations of the Africa-Europe summit scheduled in December in Lisbon, Portugal.
They also emphasised the urgent need to enhance cooperation between the European Union and the African Union at all levels.
The sources told PANA that Sarkozy reiterated the support of France for the relentless efforts by Kadhafi for the unity of Africa towards the achievement of the United States of Africa.
He further reaffirmed his firm attachment to the strengthening of French-Libyan relations in various sectors.
The talks also provided an opportunity for Kadhafi and Sarkozy to discuss several issues concerning the Mediterranean region, the sources added.
