(PANA) - The New York-based media rights group, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), has called on the African Union (AU) Commission to ‘’actively defend and uphold press freedom across the continent’’, as African leaders converge in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the first of their twice-a-year summit starting Thursday.

(Press Release) - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Professor Alpha Oumar Konare, called on the African Union Foreign Ministers to insure the implementation and respect of good governance, democracy, non-indifference, gender equality amongst other things which he said are principles adopted by the AU Member States themselves.
