East and Horn of Africa HRDs Network

(Press Statement)--The Kampala Plan of Action (known as the KAPA) was officially adopted on the 16th May 2009 in Banjul, The Gambia. Its launch, which brings about the establishment of the Pan-African Human Rights Defenders Network, marks a significant step on the road to enhanced collaboration between regional human rights networks and towards a better protection of human rights defenders (HRDs) throughout Africa.

ECOWAS Seeks Commitment on Development

(PANA)--Rounding off a one-day meeting, ministers of the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) responsible for coordinating ongoing negotiations of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union (EU) have urged regional negotiators to secure unequivocal commitment from the European Commission and EU member states to contribute to the funding of a development programme to ameliorate the effects of the agreement on West Africa.
