people around us
Who are people around us ? For me I think this is the society,So how is the society around us?Sometimes it is very hostile and sometimes it is very friendly, and when does the society become friendly to you?I think this depends in the society you are in.For those who live in the rural the society there is very concerned unlike for those who live in the urban this is because in the rural this are people who you see every morning when you wake up, you spend the day with them and do anything else together, those in the urban actually really see one another. This is why the society around us in the rural became very concerned in what one is doing in life they want to help in one way or the other, every one wants to help you in all they can ,on the other hand I think the society is over concerned, sometimes they think you must do what they want or what they think our society I happened to met an old lady and just in front of me there was this young man who was listening to his radio-phone and he was dancing all over, this old lady was so amused ‘is this man nuts I think he should see a doctor’,she told me I later started to wonder is this the society we want to be in? a society where people don’t agree with the fact that time has passed and has made changes to life ,especially the youngsters I don’t mean they should agree with everything that is done,no but to at least to accept some of the changes that have occurred .
Lets brighten up the society and make it a better place for every one to be in.

PEOPLE AROUND US
Turn right or left who do you see people ,my friends my age mate my fellow Kenyan. If there are no people around us how could it be ?People who are close to us play a big role .If i have a problem they are the one who help me to solve it .In case something happens to me they friends are there to help me .IF i want something and i do not have it i will just go to a friend and borrow .What if i do not have a friend?I could easily die of stress for i do not have someone around to solve problems with . Actually for people to live together harmoniously all that is needed is care, love, trust ,togetherness and company.

THE PEOPLE AROUND US.
They are so many yet so unique,so similar yet so different..family.friends,strangers;the people around us,such an eclectic group of people. Its amazing what you would hear and see if you took time and simply looked at people....noticed their reactions to different issues, hear what they say concerning different topics, how they laugh, cry, express their feelings, deal with problems and other issues and basically how they live their lives.People are totally interesting and our creator must be the most creative being that ever was.The people I love most around me are children;their innocence, their ability to trust anyone to do right by them, their openness and mostly, their genuine soul pleasing laughter. There is nothing uplifting as the laughter of a child!
The people around as may determine who we are and what we become, what they say about us may affect how we view ourselves as they can raise or lower our self esteem. Its therefore important to surround ourselves with people who affect our lives positively and help us grow in all aspects, after all its said that “WE ARE OUR FRIENDS” in other words, show me your friends and i will tell you who you are.

THE PEOPLE AROUND US
hi everyone. first i will like to say that if it was ‘nt for those people around us we won’t be where we are know. all those peopl;who live around us there are the one;s that make us who we are today no matter how bad they apper to be. the reason being that if we fall they are the one’s to pick us even if they are our biggest enemies as the saying goes [your enemy is your friend]. so the least we can all do is try to maintain peace with every body around us and help them no matter what the cost.apart from that we should try to live like members of the same families and not to choose or try tribalism, that can ruin your relationship completly

The people around me
The people around me could mean so many things. For instance,it could be family or friends, neighbours, enemies
or simply just fellow Kenyans.I choose to talk about friends because friends play such a vital role in our lives.
I know for sure and if you don’t think so,take a look at your life and just realize what friends can really be to you.
I love to use poetry to express myself so that is just what I will do today.Enjoy
This is for you,friend
This is for you
my friend,
for the times you’ve
seen me through
for the times you made me smile
and for the times you made me
realize that I
am a work of art.
This is for you
my friend,
for the things you have lost,
those that you will never find
for time you have spent
just hanging with me,
for making me realize that I
am priceless.
This is for you
my friend,
for all the times I have not
been there for you,
for all the times I
have been selfish,rude
and conceited
for making me realize that I
am capable of being love.
Thank you,friend!!!

Around me
Around me is pain,
Around me is sorrow,
Hope is gone, suffering constant,
I feel confined and without impact,
I want to get away,
Pretend none of this is happening around me.
As a social worker, everyday I meet new people who are in need of help and are going through the unspeakable. Its so sad when there is little you can do to assist everyone and help them live better lives. Due to the work that I am doing I have learnt how to appreciate those around me and build positive relationships with all those around me.
So often we let our environments affect the work that we are doing, our veiws on life and how we treat other people. As much as it is hard to learn to treat people as individuals we must learn to also get the best out of all those we interact with and black out the negative energy coming our way!
You would be surprised at how much of a difference this would make in your life!

street children
hi everyone. first let me start by saying that these children is not their fault at all to be there at all, some of them maybe there parents have already died and they don’t have anyone to support them in any way at all. whenever we pass them we always forget to thank God bcoz us we do have somewhere to go to at night and have something to put in our mouth atleast in a day and also its clean them they have to hustle for themselves, come to think of it its really hard yet its not there fault at all. actually I think there life is very hard, and so unfair and sometimes I just hope that I was God for only one minute I would make everybody to live in there dreams coz I belive even them do have dreams coz they are just like us in every single way, but then again that is just a wish and to wish is the only thing I do. to o bad coz for them to be there is not there fault maybe is bcoz they lacked money to support them or they don’t have parents or bcoz of torture at home and all those problems we face. actually to bad life has to be that way for them too bad

The Street Children
I happened to meet one of the street children, and he was like, ‘aunt give me five bob’, I wish I had it. I then started wondering such a small kid what could have happened to his parent are they alive, and if they are why abandon such a precious thing and if they didn’t , don’t he have relatives?
This is when I started wondering what leads to the rise of street children at first I thought it’s because they don’t have parents but don’t they have relatives, on the other hand I thought poverty has also contributed a lot to this, some don’t have places to live and if they do they live a very hopeless life . I rely wonder can’t their parents do something constructive that can help them support their children, like the simple casual work just to earn them something little to support their kids basic needs? On the other hand I think we are all Kenyans, we have and should be our brothers and sisters keeper. I and you have the responsibility to take care of one child and another one has lets all join hand to help them. These children are just like our own they need to be loved. They sleep sleepless nights and they need a place where they can sleep comfortably, somebody who can fill their hungry stomachs, someone who can take them to school, and who is to all this work for them it’s us, we Kenyans.

Forgotten Child
Up to 40,000 street children live in Kenya today, with over half of their population concentrated in the capital, Nairobi.Despite numerous support initiatives by the Government and Non-governmental organizations ,this number is increasing in an alarming rate.Quite a large population of our innocent sweet children living on the street.
Why is it an issue to us as Kenyans?
This children face life threatening challenges on the street, health and social threatening live in very poor conditions which force them in to drug and substance abuse.Apart form it having health problem it exposes them to child prostitution, crime and in extreme cases death.life have no meaning to this kids who we all ignore and brush them off in our day to day living. The conditions they stay in are so worrying and threatens the development of our society. They conditioning shapes them to future merciless criminals and society deviants who come to haunt us in future.
Like any other growing child, they are in need of both social, economical and emotional support from their adults. They view them as care givers ,hope and their refuge. How lucky we are! to be viewed this way! Many are a times we brush them off and wish they never existed.Let stop burying our heads in the sand as if street children never exists.it is our collective responsibility to support them.
We all should feel obliged to support them live a meaningful life.Let give them a smile, let cherish them, let be there for them.We are all development partners in eradicating poverty, reducing spread of HIV/AIDS, ensuring equal distribution of resources and fighting ignorance .Let not point figures at each other, and blame someone, remember four of them are pointing at you.YOU are to blame.WAKE up,let support street children with basic needs(food, shelter, cloths, health and education),encourage family unions and community co-existence.Let not put a blame on any one.We all are guilty.
This is a call for collective responsibility.Join hands and be part of the sustainable change.Yes we can

Street children
Street children are children who always live in the streets which are located in large towns
and cities. Most of this children are orphans and they had likely lacked homes to stay that is
why they end up living terrible life in the street. The reason why they live in the street is to hustle
for their daily bread.

STREET CHILDREN
ITs not there fault to be in the street ,they lack food parental love families some are orphans no homes to stay and the only option is the streets,we need to help them when we meet them on the streets ,children in the streets are very important people should be shown love at all times and be given something to eat.sleeping in the streets all night on the cold many homes should be built and the children be taken there.

street children
Basic needs are vital for human growth and development.you miss any of it,trust me it affects you and your entire life.children particularly needs to be provided with these needs.take a street child for example, sleeping in the cold, feeding on dirty and filthy stuff which they refer to to as food, sometimes even going a day without it,no one to kiss them on the chick or to at least say goodbye on their way to school,no education to name a few.Sad as it may look, its a reality and something needs to be done.why?? because these are beings with potential, they have skills which probably they themselves don’t know about, someone therefore has to discover this for them. i want to give a big thank you to organizations that have come out to rehabilitate these kids, you are doing a great job, shaping our future leaders and creating a sense of belonging for these individuals.am calling upon you who feels the same about these kids to stand up and help support these kids.recommend ways we can use so as to empower these children. If we can do this, then we shall be shaping the worldstreet chilren

Chokora
From the kiswahili version to chokora is to misuse something and fidget/mess with something. Truth be told the street children in our country are messed with and their lives have no meaning to them. It is disturbing to see kids as young as two out in the cold at 10:30pm begging for coins on the street..they are being misused by their parents and guardians as a source of income.
sometimes I pity these children and their often very young mothers...n I always wonder what I can do to help them. I know for sure handouts don’t help then what. Its dishartening for me to sit and have a meal in the comfort of my home knowing full well that there are those out there suffering......
My adopted mother used to round us up on Christmas day and we would go and cook and feed families in Westlands. It was so touching the way they appreciated it and I know its once a year and its not much but it touches some1 on a special day. We should all make an effort to do even the littlest things to help the street children and families productively.
I want read other peoples opinion and experiences on the same because some of these children are in the street because of no fault of their own.

The City In the sun?
They are out there
everywhere
Often we pass them by
looking down upon them.
one question I ask myself
where did they come from?
they have families,friends,
but why are they there?
As I ask myself
still I walk on,not ever
looking behind,not
caring.unmoved.
I never knew I could
end up there
until the man who supposedly
fathered me threw me right out
there in the streets
automatically making me homeless
a street child!!
It is indeed the city in the sun
and we are the children of the sun
but the sun is hurting
we are roasting and nobody, and I
mean nobody,cares.
It is not my fault that I
am out in the streets
I have reasons and rights
but until the day you will look at
me and care,
I will be here,waiting,roasting,
dying.
within the city in the sun.
what sun?
