MY COUNTRY

There was so much tension
anxiety, excitement and soon to be answered question.
hands held together,same expression,
each to another,an extension.

The Kenyan breeze was singing,
the sun brightly shining,
the flag proudly flying
we had a sense of belonging.

So there we were, looking at the pole
waiting,for the second goal
that would make us whole
praying for a foal.

we waited for the wave
and cheered the football brave
sounds that would be heard to the grave
and the Kenyan pride to save.

GOOOAL!! we had won! created a moment
there was no Luo,Kikuyu,Samburu or Ogiek,
there were only Kenyans,
hugging,laughing and celebrating as one!!

I gave my country a second look
and felt content as a brook
I was proud to be Kenyan,
i had found home,It felt right to be among this people!!
