The Alliance for Children's Entitlement to Social Security (ACESS) is a national alliance of 70 organisations sharing a common vision and mission of ensuring that children's rights to survival and development are promoted and protected through the development of a comprehensive and effective social security system. It is currently seeking a National Co-ordinator, and Advocacy co-ordinator.

The Alliance for Children's Entitlement to Social Security (ACESS) is a national alliance of 70 organisations sharing a common vision and mission of ensuring that children's rights to survival and development are promoted and protected through the development of a comprehensive and effective social security system. The ACESS task team includes Soul
City, Children's Institute (UCT) and Children's Rights Centre.
The National Co-ordinator
(12 month contract based in Cape Town)
Major responsibilities of the position include:
* Management, co-ordination and direction
* Networking, profiling the activities of the Alliance and building the membership
* Fundraising and financial management Requirements:
The candidate will:
* Be familiar with the Children's Rights Sector, poverty and development issues, social security policy, and legislative framework
* have at least 2 years proven management, leadership and financial experience
* have the capacity for strategic thinking and strong conceptual and analytical skills
* possess excellent writing, editing and speaking skills in English. Other South African languages advantageous.
* have appropriate computer skills
* willingness to travel extensively
* have a driver's licence and own vehicle
Total salary package: R15 000 per month.
The Advocacy Co-ordinator
(12 month contract based in Cape Town)
will be responsible for the following:
* To ensure that information on children's social
security needs reaches all relevant stake-holders
* To develop a co-ordinated, focussed, detailed
media and community-awareness strategy and liase
with key decision-makers and policy-development
processes
Requirements:
The candidate will:
* be familiar with the Children's Rights Sector in
South Africa and possess knowledge of social
security policy, the legislative framework and
service delivery
* have legal skills and experience
* have 2 years proven experience in policy
development, advocacy and lobbying
* possess advanced computer, information management
and internet skills
* have basic research skills and excellent writing,
editing and speaking skills in English. Other South
African languages advantageous.
* willingness to travel
* have a driver's licence and own vehicle.
Total salary package: R10 000 per month.
