Financial Administrator
A regional women's network based in Nairobi, Kenya is seeking to employ a Financial Administrator for two year period. A three month probation period shall apply.
Responsibilities for this position include:
a. Preparing budgets for core and programme activities of the Employer's Secretariat on an annual basis and as may be required for fundraising and internal planning;
b. Monitoring and evaluating core and programme incomes and expenditures against prepared budgets;
c. Reporting on such incomes and expenditures on a quarterly basis and as may otherwise be required (including doing financial reports for funders);
d. Preparing quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial reports and statements of accounts and ensuring an annual audit is carried out by a reputable auditing company;
e. Advising the Executive Director on matters relating to fundraising, financial management and investment and financial reporting;
f. Advising the Executive Director on matters relating to FEMNET's assets (including the purchase, insurance and disposal of such assets in a cost-effective manner);
g. Maintaining a pay roll for FEMNET's staff and ensuring all statutory deductions are made and paid to the relevant authorities in a timely manner;
h. Implementing financial management policies and systems and ensuring adherence to such policies and systems in all of FEMNET's core and programme activities.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
a. Professional qualifications of ACCA or CPA (Kenya);
b. A university degree in a relevant field;
c. In-depth knowledge of accounting systems, including:
i. Accounting software and packages, namely Excell and Quickbooks;
ii. Policies, procedures and methods for financial management;
d. Demonstrated knowledge of Kenya's tax laws as they apply to regional organisations;
e. At least three years of relevant experience within a commercial or non-governmental organisation based in Kenya.
