International Women's Day
Demonstration and Symposium: Women Against the War

On Saturday, 8 March 2003, the Anti-War Coalition will be joining women
around
the world in commemorating International Women's Day. We have organized a
Women Against the War demonstration at the US Consulate in Killarney and a
symposium on the effects of war on women and children.

We will gather at the Worker's Library and Museum in Newtown at 9:30 am and
leave by bus to the US Consulate at 10:00 am. There we will demonstrate
against the impending war on Iraq for an hour.

At 11:30, we will return to the Worker's Library and have lunch together.

After lunch, we will convene a symposium at the Worker's Library on the
social,
economic, and military effects of war on women and children. We will have
two
main speakers. One will discuss the effects of war on women and children
generally - dealing with conflicts throughout the world - and the other will
address the effects of war on women and children in Iraq and Palestine. We
ask
that any groups that wish to participate please send one speaker who will
speak
for 5-7 minutes.

For more information, please contact Makoma on 082 682 9177.
