ABOUT THE SCHOOL
2006 sees the hosting of our fifth globalisation school. This year’s theme will look at “Alternatives to Globalisation”. ILRIG has been hosting its annual globalisation school since 2002.

AIMS OF THE SCHOOL Activists from trade unions and social movements meet to share experiences of struggles against globalisation.
To understand different interpretations of globalisation and to look at developing alternatives to globalisation.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE SCHOOL The school consists of plenary sessions and 3-day classes. Come and debate inputs by various speakers and guests and select a course which is of most interest to your organisation. Classes will be held on the following topics:

Building Women’s Activism today Alternative Trade and Investment strategies New Forms of Organisation Looking at Democracy and new forms of Public Power In addition, particularly for activists who may be attending the ILRIG Globalisation School for the first time, we will be having a class called:

Introduction to Globalisation WHO SHOULD ATTEND The Globalisation School is open to all activists in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa that have an interest in developing alternatives to globalisation. ILRIG would especially encourage activists in trade unions, social movements and NGOs who can act as educators in their organisations to attend. ILRIG is committed to ensuring that there is a gender balance amongst the participants.
