COORDINATOR OF THE “GLOBALIZATION AND INTERNATIONAL GOVERNANCE” THEMATIC PROGRAMME

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the Programmes Director's supervision, he/she contributes : i) to make communication and information be considered as issues of globalization and of international democratic governance and to make the communication dimension be integrated into the debates on those themes; ii) to increase Civil Society's role at the West African regional level, on the questions of globalization, international governance and advocacy as well, so that this society is considered as a main actor on these issues; iii) to the elaboration, the development and the implementation of PIWA's programmes on the above themes and ensure these programmes' visibility.

MAIN DUTIES
- Elaborate and implement the programme's strategy of development for the coming years by matching its objectives with the ones of the organization's Strategic Plan and by guaranteeing the renewal of the reflection on the new issues;
- Actively contribute to fundraising for the programme's development and the continued existence in the next years;
- Write, introduce and follow up the requests for projects' financing and ensure the reporting of the programme's activities;
- Spark off, provide information for and facilitate public debates on the issues of globalization and governance for democracy;
- Strengthen the capacities and the synergy of the media sector stakeholders that work on these issues;
- Coordinate studies and researches on the theme from the decision about the most appropriate research methods to the definition of the terms of reference by going through the coordination of the study and research work at a distance and at the regional level;
- Initiate advocacy campaigns and mobilize stakeholders and decision-makers around the programme's issues;
- Coordinate the production and dissemination of information (including in the media) on the programmes' problematics in relationship with the technical departments (radio and print media):
- Supervise partners', consultants' and internal and external working groups' work at the national and regional level.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE
- Master's degree to PhD in political sciences, international relations, communication and information sciences, social sciences.
- Command of the concepts and tools of development projects' management: conception, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes and projects.
- Good knowledge of the information sector and globalization and international governance themes plus familiarity with the theories, concepts, authors and main stakeholders of the sector; command the issues related to these themes at the African and World level.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience at similar positions.
- Excellent level of French or English, with good working knowledge of the second language and be perfectly at ease in a multicultural and mixed environment.
- The applicant will prove to be strategic- minded, to have great capacities of conceptualization, to be a leader, precise and result-oriented. He/she will be dynamic, autonomous, reactive and really at ease in the development of networks.
- Command of usual office softwares (Office suite) and the Internet.
- This position requires frequent international travels.
