Response to ‘Western Sahara and Morocco’s physical and symbolic violence’

Konstantina Isidoros’s article ‘raises the bar, lifts the lid and exposes the follies of Morocco perfectly’ writes Martin Dewhurst.

Congratulations on your brilliant article in Pambazuka.

I've read many hundreds of pieces on this topic since 2002 and yours is 'superb' for want of a better description.

When news first broke of Camp Gdem Izik being erected I feared the worst for my Sahrawi friends, knowing from first hand accounts the oppression they've experienced.

By November 8th these fears were confirmed and in spite of writing to BBC for 20 days (prior, during and after the camp) the best we saw in UK was reference to an article in BBC World, Africa section.

I've kept up a series of interrelated blogs via Ecademy.com and added to each of these daily in an attempt to at least get the story heard in business circles.

Your article though raises the bar, lifts the lid and exposes the follies of Morocco perfectly.

As they say in the region ... shukran.
