ICC Conference 19-21 December 2001

An international conference ‘Implementing the ICC, for policymakers, lawyers and the military’ will be held from 19 – 21 December 2001 in the Peace Palace, The Hague. With the number of ratifications rapidly growing the establishment of the ICC seems to come faster than anticipated. Therefore it is of great importance that the central themes of the conference focus on the design and the consequences of the establishment of the ICC for target groups mostly affected by the functioning of the new court. These target groups are policymakers, lawyers and the military. For additional information, please email the organisers.

The opening conference on Wednesday the 19th of December will sketch the
broad outline of the implications of the establishment of the ICC for the
target audience. This conference is followed by three 2-day courses, smaller
of scale, with specific target groups, aiming for a deepening of knowledge
and understanding of the implications of the ICC on a more specific theme.
The conference is jointly organised by the T.M.C. Asser Institute and
Science Alliance, and is supported by the Dutch Public Prosecutor, the
municipality of The Hague and Kluwer Law International. The courses are
organized in cooperation with Leiden University, the Netherlands Institute
for International Relations Clingendael, the International Criminal Defence
Attorney Association and the T.M.C. Asser Institute. Our goal is to realise
an event of high quality with global representation of both lecturers and
participants.
