Duties
There are four sub-regions in the Africa Region: Sahel, Sahel, Eastern, and
Southern. This Sub-Regional Training and Programming Coordinator (SRTPC) is
located in the Coastal West/Central region and is based out of Dakar,
Senegal. The SRTPC provides the sub-regional posts with assistance in
developing the professional and management skills of the training and
programming staffs, including the Associate Peace Corps Directors. S/he is
responsible for developing a cadre of professional, on-continent training
managers. The SRTPC may be asked to respond to additional requests for
assistance in areas such as project planning, and facilitating staff
retreats and workshops. These duties are carried out in consultation with
the Regional Director, the Programming and Training Advisor, and the
sub-regional Country Directors. At least 50% of the SRTPC's time is spent
outside of the host country traveling to posts within the sub-region.

Career Ladder
Grade FP-02 is the full performance level for this position. If selected
from this vacancy announcement at a lower grade level, the employee may be
considered for promotion without further competition.

Mandatory Qualifications
In order to be selected for this position, the applicant must be a U.S.
citizen, must not have been employed in intelligence-related activities, and
must submit an application which clearly documents how they meet each of the
following mandatory requirements: 1) at least five years of international
development experience; 2) at least two years of experience in project
design, management, and evaluation (this may be included in qualification
number one above); 3) at least two years of experience in training and/or
mentoring trainers who are responsible for planning and administering
trainings and 4) fluency in spoken French. All experience and education
requirements must be met by September 28, 2002..

Desired Qualifications
The following qualifications are not mandatory for selection to this
position. However, highly competitive applicants will have most of the
following: 1) experience living and working in Africa, preferably in west or
Sahelian Africa; 2) a graduate degree in international development,
international education, or another field related to the position; 3)
experience in human resource or organizational development consulting; 4)
experience in team building with diverse groups; 5) experience planning and
conducting workshops; 6) experience writing reports and action plans; 7)
familiarity with the Peace Corps or other international volunteer
