Centre for Democracy & Development (CDD) is an international,
non-governmental organisation dedicated to research, training and advocacy
on issues of democratisation, development and human security in West Africa.

CDD seeks a part-time Finance and Administration Officer to work at its
International Office based in Islington, London. This position is available
from 1 May 2003.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

* work part-time, 9am – 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

* assist the Coordinator of the International Office (CIO) with
general office management and administration
* assist the CIO with bookkeeping and financial administration
* attend to telephone enquiries, reception and general record
keeping in the office
* assist with CDD events coordination and organisation
* contribute to overall organisational development
* carry out any other duties that may be required, consistent with
the position

Person Specification
Essential
* Formal training in Office Administration and Finance/Bookkeeping/
HR
* Proven experience of working in a similar position in a charitable
organisation
* Excellent numeracy and communication skills
* Excellent public relations, organisational and multitasking skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast paced multi-cultural
environment.
* Excellent IT and computer skills – especially on spreadsheet and
database packages – Microsoft Excel, Access and payroll packages
* Demonstrable interest in and commitment to the voluntary sector

Desirable
* Conversational French

Salary- Subject to experience but competitive
