The Journal of Peacebuilding and Development, a new tri-annual refereed journal providing a forum for the sharing of critical thinking and constructive action on issues at the intersections of conflict, development, and peace, is calling for papers for its first issue. This Volume II No. 2 is focused on evaluation and impact assessment that fall in the peacebuilding and development nexus.

CALL FOR PAPERS: VOLUME II NUMBER 1 –
Evaluation and Impact Assessment in Peacebuilding and Development

The Journal of Peacebuilding and Development, a new tri-annual refereed journal providing a forum for the sharing of critical thinking and constructive action on issues at the intersections of conflict, development, and peace, is calling for papers for its first issue. This Volume II No. 2 is focused on evaluation and impact assessment that fall in the peacebuilding and development nexus, including:

o The impacts of peace initiatives on development
o Lessons in evaluating development practices and aid on conflict and peace
o Methods and instruments to measure the impact of peacebuilding intervention projects or initiatives in development contexts
o Frameworks and approaches to evaluate the integration of peacebuilding initiatives in development projects/operation
o Critical review of existing evaluation methods and frameworks in development and peacebuilding
o Evaluating peacebuilding and development training practices and methods
o Ethical considerations in evaluating peacebuilding and development
o Role of outsiders in the process of evaluation of peacebuilding and development initiatives
o Contribution of peacebuilding and development to change (economic/social/cultural)
o Power imbalances in peacebuilding and development evaluation frameworks
o Theories and assumptions in evaluating the intersections of peacebuilding and development
o Cross-cutting themes: power and empowerment; the role of culture,
women, minorities and other marginalized groups; theory, rhetoric, policy and practice;

Articles submitted to the Journal should be original contributions. Please clearly indicate if article is under consideration by another publisher at the time of submission. Articles are read by 2-3 outside reviewers, and the editors. Briefings are also read by one reviewer. Articles covering the following categories will be considered:

Critical Themes and Case Analysis – critical case studies and/or thematic discussion and analysis of topical peacebuilding and development themes. 7,000 word maximum, including references and endnotes.
Briefings – discussions of 1) training, peacebuilding and intervention strategies and impact, 2) policy review/ analysis, or 3) Country briefings. 2000 word maximum.
Book reviews—1,500 word maximum.
Resources – notices of new books, reports, upcoming conferences, videos, e-communications and websites.
150 word maximum.
Documents –Declarations, communiqués, and other relevant NGO or multilateral organisation statements. 1,000 word maximum.

Each manuscript must be submitted by email, and if possible in Word format. Any diagrams and maps should be submitted in eps or jpeg format. Tables may appear in the text, but do not apply frames or tints. Copyright of articles published in the Journal rests with the publisher. Abstract Deadline: 1 June (late submissions may be considered, given our need, or for our subsequent issue) Full article deadline: 1 July (following acceptance of your abstract).
