Women’sNet, the Internet- based women’s communications and advocacy initiative of SANGONeT and the Commission of Gender Equality is recruiting an intern. Our internship programme provides an opportunity for South African women to develop their information communications and technology (ICT) skills and gain valuable work experience for a nine-month period.
The Women’sNet internship programme provides on-the-job as well as more formal training and work experience in the dynamic world of gender and ICTs.
Key responsibilities on the intern are: to source information for Women’sNet web resources; to code new documents in Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) for posting on the web site;
to respond to Women’sNet online queries; filing and in-house information management;
to provide administrative support to WN staff to provide logistical support for Women’sNet staff (e.g. arranging venues for training, preparing training manuals, etc)
The woman we wish to recruit should posses:
good organisational skills;
proficiency in English and at least one African language;
basic computer skills such as the ability to work in a Windows environment and word-processing skills (additional computer skills, in particular web skills would be an advantage) good communications skills (electronic and interpersonal), especially good writing skills; an understanding of the developmental challenges facing South African women
an interest in Information Communications Technologies and its developmental uses.
The position is open to South African citizens only and is for a nine-month period. A stipend is provided. No benefits apply.
