Enough is enough
Dansola Furecha
I would like to express my anger at the ruling
government, the police and Dr.Ignatius Chombo for
showing gross incompetence on everything in this
state. Starting with Dr.Chombo, why are you tampering
with the Honourable Engineer Mudzuri's high profile
post? To remove an elected figure like Mudzuri from
office is unfair, an unwelcome move, based on nothing
but flimsy political grounds. It's really a disgrace .
He police removed him from his office using force to
show their true colours, that they are ZANU-PF
controlled. By this suspending of a duly elected
figure from the MDC camp from office is an eye-opener
to us Zimbabweans that the road to democracy, good
governance and justice is a gully, rocky and still
inaccessible from 1980 until a lasting solution,
changing the government, is found. Not tomorrow, but
today.
ZANU-PF itself produced the first executive mayor of
Harare, Solomon Tawengwa, who went down on allegations
of rampant mismanangement and massive corruption.
Where were the police and Chombo? It's really a
shocking thunder locally and internationally to note
that a ZANU-PF minister needs to settle personal
differences by chopping down the people's choice.
Dr.Chombo, a few questions for you:
1. Do you expect an MDC-elected mayor to manufacture
water and fill the dams to end water rationing?
2. Do you expect Engineer Mudzuri to fill the council
fleet of trucks with spiritual water as fuel, to
justify non-collection of rubbish in the city of
Harare?
People, let us not be scared of standing up for our
rights like ZANU-PF and PF-ZAPU did in the struggle
for independence And let us show that we are just as
fearless as the freedom fighters were when they left
home to go to war. No outsider can free us until all
go into the streets and show resistance to ZANU-PF.
As for the police, here is a reminder. You are doing
no good because we, the masses, your wives, relatives,
and your children are all eating from one plate of
school fees, bread, cooking oil, mealiie-meal and
joblessness. As for the Ministry of education, pity
and shame goes to Aeneas Chigwedere who lied that he
had offered teachers more than they had bargained for.
Education is a birthright and therefore should not be
violated. ZANU-PF should not take university students
for granted. They are at the university to acquire
knowledge and not waste their precious time.
Well, the past three years were quite an unwelcome
disaster. We had famine, the virtual fall of the
economy, one strong, to its knees, lawlessness,
injustice and abuse of human rights. Until the famine
created by poor strategies of acquiring land is over
then sanity can prevail in the once upon a time
Sunshine City. Sanity cannot come by suspending
Engineer Mudzuri. According to sources, many legal
experts are against Chombo's decision, so if the
government can remove Chombo for failing to create
housing for thousands, if not millions, of squatters
in the country, the people expect a minister to set
aside personal differences if on duty and do business
as business and co-exist with the unarguably second
highest elected man in the state.
In this, I won't spare the Zimbabwe Bogus Corporation
(ZBC) and its chief director, Professor Moyo, for
trying to paint a bad picture of Mudzuri since he came
to office. You at ZBC don't just like the people to
know the truth. In fact, this is best highlighted by
Zimbabwe having only state-controlled TV and radio
stations, burning of independent papers, especially
Daily News copies. Why target the Daily news? The
answer is simple. Because it `tells it like it is'.
Professor Jonathan Moyo, why should you impose stiffer
and unbearable conditions on independent players who
need to install radio and TV stations if there is
nothing to hide? We close doors at homes, workplaces,
churches etc. because we need to protect something
indoors. Hence your closing of media doors.
The government tried for years to rule without being
opposed, but since the country emerged from the de
facto ZANU-PF one-party state era they are shivering
with rage, shown by soldiers beating innocent people,
the Green Bombers trying to silence the masses by
torture, rape and murder. I personally see, or rather
regard them, as the Rhodesian Selous Scouts. Why waste
people's taxes by financing Green Bombers. The
Ministry of Youth, Gender and Employment Creation is a
total write-off. Instead of creating employment,
correcting gender imbalances and educating the youth
about AIDS, the ministry, under Eliot Manyika, who is
trying to be like the late Border Gezi, is wasting
millions of dollars. I know many youths from the
so-called youth service, who are doing nothing but
confessing what they did whilst in camp.
Chinotimba's utterances at Gwanzura Stadium were just
silly political chicanery to silence poor workers and
farmers ferried in lorries to create an impression
that the venue was too crowded. If so, then why and
how did Pearson mungofa scoop the Highfield seat from
adamant Gwisai and `the Guard', uneducated Chinos, as
they cartoon him? People are fed up. Enough is enough.
Can't you have mercy on people starving in millions,
children dropping out of school and everything being
hard? Let you not heed the warning that as each day
starts pressure is mounting. People need freedom not
POSA or ZANU-PF propaganda. Kutonga madzoro (we rule
in turns): Zimbabwe is not a communal village where a
sabhuku is only removed by death.
I and the rest of the people appreciate whatever
ZANU-PF claim to have done but unfortunately
`matakadya kare haanyaradze mwana' (you can't comfort
a child by talking of cakes consumed in the past).
Instead, buy the child the cake right away.
Thank you Zimbabweans for your overwhelming support
for the MDC mass action and the ZCTU stay away. It'
gave the Hitler sleepless nights.
