AFRODAD
African Forum and Network on Debt and Development

SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER – LOBBY AND ADVOCACY
(Based in Harare, Two year Contract renewable)

AFRODAD is seeking a dynamic self-starter to fill this challenging post. You will be responsible for developing and implementing AFRODAD's Lobby and Advocacy Programme, and for managing a highly skilled team of Project Associates working on various development policy issues. An excellent communicator and networker, you will be comfortable representing the AFRODAD network at high-level meetings and policy consultations. You will also have experience of writing policy briefs and position papers for diverse audiences, strategy development, fundraising, and budget management.

You will also be responsible for mobilizing civil society around issues of common interest in order to influence policy change on Debt and Development/debt-related issues that will redress Africa’s debt crisis that has fuelled underdevelopment and massive poverty.

The ideal candidate will have:

A Masters Degree in Social Sciences (Economics, Development Studies, Political Science) or its equivalent
Five (5) years work experience in an NGO environment in a similar senior position
Ability to draft and edit high quality policy documents
An understanding of policy development issues at national, regional and global levels
A strong desire to contribute to the Pan-African ideology for equitable and sustainable development
Experience working with donors and intergovernmental organizations, national governments and civil society
Proficiency in both French and English. Portuguese would be an added advantage
