VACANCIES IN TAC

TAC invites applications for the following positions.

* Western Cape organiser - Based in Khayalitsha, Cape Town
* Gauteng TP coordinator - Based in Braamfontein, Johannesburg -
* Provincial administrators (2) - Based in Nelspruit (Mpumalanga) and Elim
(Limpopo)

ABOUT TREATMENT ACTION CAMPAIGN

TAC is a non-profit organisation which campaigns for access to HIV treatment
for all South Africans, by raising public awareness and understanding of
issues about the availability, affordability and use of HIV treatment,
monitoring the public health system and mobilising communities for a peoples
health movement. The organisation has six provincial offices in the country,

All positions are 1 year contracts, which depending on the availability of
funds, may be renewed. The salary is negotiable, based on candidate's
relevant experience. Standard benefits include a 13th cheque, 100% medical
aid costs, and contributions to a staff provident fund.

WC PROVINCIAL ORGANISER

The WC Provincial organiser will be responsible for :

- Building and supporting TAC branches and district structures in the
province.
- Developing the capacity and leadership of TAC volunteers in the province.
- Communicating and networking with CBOs, NGOs and FBOs in the province.
- Establishing good relations with piublic health workers at primary,
district and provincial levels.
- Working together with the provincial staff to plan and implement TACs
programmes in the province.

Suitable candidates must have a proven track record of good leadership and
communication skills, experience in working with people and programmes,
preferably in the health or HIV AIDS sectors. They must also have good
writing and computer skills. An addition to being fluent in English, the
ability to speak Afrikaans, and / or Xhosa will be an advantage. People
living openly with HIV are encouraged to apply.

GAUTENG TREATMENT PROJECT COORDINATOR

The TAC Treatment Project (TP) is a registered section 21 non profit
organisation within TAC which procures and manages appropriate treatment for
HIV positive activists and members of communities that would not otherwise
be able to afford treatment.

The Gauteng TP coordinator will be responsible for:

- Strategic planning, development and reporting the work of the TP in the
province, including
- Setting clear plans, targets and timeframes for the TP in the province
- Maintaining a database of activists and community based people who
approach TP to get treatment
- Facilitating access to treatment for people in public health facilities
- Networking and communicating with TP partners in the province (eg.
Doctors)
- Coordination of the development of wellness programmes within TAC branches
- Coordination of provincial selection processes and commitees
- Monitoring and support for patients accessing ARV treatment through the TP
- Provincial budgeting, fundraising and financial accounting.
- Working together with the provincial staff to plan and implement TACs
programmes in the province.
- The Gauteng TP coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring some
patients in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

Suitable candidates must have a proven track record of good administration
and people skills, experience in working with people and programmes,
preferably in the health or HIV AIDS sectors. They must also have good
writing and computer skills, and some experience of managing finances.
People living openly with HIV are encouraged to apply.

PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATOR (2 positions in Nelspruit and Elim)

The Limpopo and Mpumalanga provincial administrators will be responsible
for:

- Setting up good administrative systems in the office including: Filing,
and computer systems
- Provinding administrative support to the provincial organiser, by
assisting them to set up meetings and maintain a diary and annual calendar.
- Handling all incoming calls to the provincial office as well as
districuting all faxes, post and emails to the relevent people.
- Keeping TAC documents and educational materials in a resource centre
within the office, for volunteers to use.
- Supervision of volunteers working in the office, together with the
provincial organiser.
- Maintaining good financial systems in the office, including handling petty
cash, cheque requisitions and accounting for expenditure in the province.
- Assist the provincial organiser in preparing monthly reports, plans and a
budget for the province.
- Maintaining an inventory of equipment in the office, seeing to neccessary
repairs, and ordering stationary through the national office.

Suitable candidates must have a proven track record of good administration
skills, experience in working with people and programmes. They must also
have good writing and computer skills, and experience of managing finances.
People living openly with HIV are encouraged to apply. Only people currently
based in Nelspuit and Elim will be considered for selection.
