Request for nominations

I am a consultant working with a family foundation to identify youth lead
community based organizations based in South Africa and Tanzania. For
those
of you unfamiliar with my background, I was the Africa Program Director
at
International Development Exchange (IDEX), a U.S. Based International
Grantmaking Intermediary from August 2002 to June 2004. From September
2001
to March 2002, I participated in a solo and self-funded volunteer tour of
advocacy focused community based organizations in 5 countries in East and
Southern Africa.

I am excited to deepen and expand my commitment to Africa through
philanthropic advising to support economic empowerment at the grassroots.

Request: Please forward names and contact information for
youth community based organizations (CBOs) engaged in: 1)
entrepreneurship,
2) critical thinking 3) youth empowerment and capacity building and 4)
sustainability and economic self-sufficiency of people on the ground in
South Africa and Tanzania.

We are interested in income generation and social impact--i.e., making
money
and supporting social development at the same time as well as extending
opportunities to other people, particularly ones who can have a
"multiplier
effect".

We are hoping to identify 5-10 groups in each country for a potential
grant
of US$5-10,000 each group.

Focus Area: Youth CBOs in South Africa and Tanzania working in areas
where
there is the greatest opportunity for impact especially townships and
rural
areas.

Timing: Ideally, I would like to receive nominations by 1/17/05!
