The West African Civil Society Forum is the official Forum of civil society and non-governmental organisations operating across the West African sub-region. WACSOF aims to influence the work of the regional institution – ECOWAS, build and strengthen networks of civil society organisations in the sub-region, develop the capacity of its members and relate to external agencies who share the goals of deepening democracy, preventing conflict, promoting economic development and eradicating poverty in West Africa. To achieve its aims, WACSOF has finalised plans to recruit its pioneer staff:
Finance Officer (Initial one year contract)
Reporting to the General Secretary, the Finance (FO) is responsible for assisting the General Secretary (GS) in the prioritization and management of the many financial issues and processes related to the support of the WACSOF Regional Secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria and providing support services to the national WACSOF Chapters/focal points at the national level in ECOWAS member states. Assists with the development and institutionalization of improved sustainable financial policies and practices. Engages and motivates relevant individuals to buy-in and participate in the improvement process in a variety of ways. Establishes working relationships with other departments’ especially the program officers. Represents the issues and acts on behalf of the GS in all circumstances requiring involvement of Finance. Specifically responsible for planning, directing and controlling activities related to financial matters.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: - Chartered accountant with a minimum of five years post qualification experience or BSc./HND degree in accountancy and finance with a minimum of seven years post qualification exposure. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate in english and french; and excellent inter-personal skills.
Salary expectations: This is a National Staff position and the salary (all inclusive) would range between $1000 and $2000 monthly depending on qualification and experience of successful candidate.

Communication and IT Officer (Initial one year contract)
Reporting to the General Secretary, the Communication and IT Officer (CIO) is responsible for assisting the General Secretary (GS) in coordinating and maintaining contacts with WACSOF members and partners, database/information and website management, and relations with the media.
Specifically, this officer shall establish and manage the WACSOF resource centre; establish and maintain the WACSOF database and website; maintain healthy relations with the media and coordinate WACSOF’s public relations machinery; coordinate relations with WACSOF members and partners and keep them regularly informed of WACSOF’s activities; assist with fundraising and proposal development; and any other duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: - Masters degree or its equivalent in social sciences, public relations, IT and database/website management; minimum of 5 years working experience in a recognised NGO; remarkable proposal writing, fundraising and public relations ability; ability to communicate in English and French is very essential; excellent computer skills; and excellent inter-personal skills.

Administrative Officer (Initial one year contract)
Reporting to the General Secretary, the Administrative Officer is responsible for assisting the GS with administrative issues and processes related to the support of the Abuja Office. Assists with the development and institutionalization of improved sustainable management practices. Engages and motivates relevant individuals to buy-in and participate in the improvement process in a variety of ways. Establishes working relationships within departments. Is specifically responsible for planning, directing and controlling activities related to personnel, procurement, transport services and general administrative functions.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: -
Degree in Administration, Secretarial Services, Social Sciences, Languages, or its equivalent, at least 3 years relevant post-graduate experience, ability to communicate both in written and verbal English and French or Portuguese, excellent inter-personal skills, good experience in managing people, integrity, professional approach, good team worker, able to deal with a variety of people of all levels, of different cultural backgrounds, and communicate with and form good working relations with them and knowledge and experience of NGOs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
All utility staff.

Peacebuilding and Governance Officer (Initial one year contract)
Reporting to the General Secretary, the Peacebuilding and Governance Officer (PGO) is responsible for assisting the General Secretary (GS) in the prioritization and management of the peacebuilding and governance programmes of WACSOF at the regional level.
Specifically, this officer shall coordinate and manage the following programmes of WACSOF:
Human rights.
Electoral assistance and elections monitoring
Peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
Peace education and culture of peace.
Small arms and light weapons.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: - Masters degree or its equivalent in social sciences, human rights, law, development studies, peacebuilding and conflict resolution, etc.; minimum of 5 years working experience in a recognised NGO; remarkable proposal writing and fundraising ability; ability to communicate in English and French is very essential; excellent computer skills and excellent inter-personal skills.
