AFRICA REGIONAL HIV/AIDS POLICY AND ADVOCACY OFFICER.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya

ActionAid International is looking for committed and focused individual
for the Regional HIV&AIDS Policy and Advocacy Officer. ActionAid
International Global Strategy has HIV&AIDS as one of our Thematic
priorities.

The position reports to Africa Regional HIV&AIDS Coordinator with
functional links to the International HIV&AIDS Policy and Campaign
Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for spearheading the
development of a prioritized regional HIV&AIDS policy, advocacy and
campaign agenda and to strengthen and deepen policy analysis of
HIV&AIDS. He/she will build and strengthen the technical capacity of
policy staff in mainstreaming HIV&AIDS, analysis in development policy,
the impact of HIV/AIDS on poverty and development sectors and
development of national and regional campaigns. The incumbent will be
responsible for building regional level partnerships, collaborations,
alliances, networks in order to further AAI's policy in relation to
HIV/AIDS in the Africa region. He/she will engage with regional and
sub-regional intergovernmental bodies (ECA, AU, NEPAD, SADC) and other
strategic policy platforms.

The position requires an individual with a degree in a relevant field,
passionate about HIV&AIDS and an activist who can deliver cutting edge
policy on HIV&AIDS in an effective and timely manner. It requires a
dynamic, self driven, flexible and motivated person able to work in a
fast paced environment with multiple accountabilities and minimum
supervision, individuals who enjoy team work, possess computer skills
and are able to travel as required. A proven track record in the field
in programming, campaign or technical expertise with at least 3 years
experience. Knowledge of the epidemic and current response is important
as well as the link that exists between HIV/AIDS and poverty eradication
programmes is desirable.
