Dear participants,
In 2002, 2003 and 2004, the Gender and Water Alliance will publish three
annual reports on gender and water. The first will be presented at the World
Water Forum in Japan in March 2003. The three sub-sectors that will be
covered are gender and water for people, for food and for nature. IRC, the
International Water and Sanitation Centre will co-ordinate the sub-sector of
water and sanitation, for people. The first report will address gender
aspects in water policies and legal and institutional frameworks.
You can join in this activity by analysing one or more of your country's (or
any other country's) official documents on the roles, duties and rights of
women, or women and men. The analysis consists of filling in a list of seven
characteristics in a pre-designed and easy to use format. In exchange, for
each contribution IRC offers any combination of its publications on water,
sanitation and hygiene to a total value of US $ 50 (Euro 57) free of charge.
The period of participation is extended to 1 June, 2002.
We hope that many of you will feel inspired to join in this activity and
look forward to hearing from you. Contact us at the (e-mail)address below. A
more detailed description, as well as the format to be used will be sent to
individual participants.
For the 3 AR project under WEDC, on behalf of the Gender Water Alliance,
