An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with Africa Now, a value-driven non profit organisation with its head quarters in the UK.

We are currently seeking a Co-ordinator for our newly established Ethical Business Services Unit, based in Nairobi.

Africa Now is committed to improving lives in Africa through better market and employment opportunities, with activities focused on developing sustainable individual economic activity. In both Africa and Europe, Africa Now is engaged with companies and business groups, ethical and fair trade organisations working towards improving the terms of trade and employment.

The Ethical Business Services unit has been set up to create income to further our aims and fund our project and charitable work.

Reporting to the Ethical Business Services Director the Co-ordinator will hold a key position helping position Africa Now as the leading organisation in the provision of ethical business services across Africa.

You should be a graduate in law, commerce, economics, agriculture or a social science, and ideally have experience of ethical audits, helping producers reach fair trade requirements or working directly with out-growers producing for export. You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of gender issues in relation to this work.

Excellent coordination skills are required and strong communication and administrative skills with the ability to deal with a range of competing interests are vital, as is the assertiveness to deal with private sector management and international buyers.

Excellent written and spoken English, WORD EXCEL and Internet skills are essential and a good knowledge of French would be an advantage. The post also requires someone demonstrably trustworthy who can handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

The post will be full time and involves travel both within Kenya and countries throughout Africa. The post offers excellent prospects for the right candidate, as this is an expanding area of Africa Now’s work.
