A regional women's network based in Nairobi, Kenya is seeking to employ a Communications Officer for a two-year full time contract. A probation period of three months shall apply.
Responsibilities for the position include:
a. Writing, editing, preparing, designing and laying out two newsletters for the network;
b. Updating the network's use of new information and communications technologies for internal and external communications (including writing, editing, preparing and distributing a monthly electronic bulletin, updating a website on a monthly basis and managing the network’s list serves);
c. Coordinating a training project for our members in participatory communications for development and social change;
d. Participating and supporting African women NGO’s participation in ICT policy processes
e. Fundraising for and reporting on the communications programme;
f. Assisting the Executive Director with communications and representing the Executive Director in such preparations as and when may be required.
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
a. Demonstrated interest and/or experience in gender and development and/or women's human rights in Africa;
b. A degree in communications or a relevant social science;
c. Demonstrated training and/or experience in participatory approaches to communications for development;
d. Demonstrated training and/or experience in print and audiovisual/broadcast media production;
e. Demonstrated training and/or experience in applications of new information and communications technologies;
f. Familiarity with ICT policy issues in the region and globally
g. Demonstrated capacity to communicate and work in both English and French.

Coordination d’un projet de formation en matière de communication participative pour le développement et le changement social pour nos membres.
Participation et appui des activités des ONG féminines dans le processus de la politique des TIC.
Preuve d’expérience ou de qualifications en matière d’applications des Nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC)
Bonne connaissance des questions de politiques relatives aux TIC sur le plan régional et mondial.
Aptitude certaine de communiquer et de travailler en Anglais et en Français.
