POSITION OPENING

On behalf of the NGO Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC),
the World Federalist Movement - Institute of Global Policy (WFM-IGP) is
opening the position of Outreach Liaison, Africa & Europe. The liaison
will be based at the main office of the CICC in New York.

The Liaison will contribute to the attainment of all of the goals of the
CICC, in particular by supporting the work of the CICC regional
coordinators in Africa and Europe and through other tasks outlined in the
attached job description.

The goals of the CICC are: increasing the level of worldwide support for
the ICC and the Rome Statute; promoting education and awareness of the ICC
and the Rome Statute among the media, civil society groups and the general
public; expanding and strengthening the national and regional networks of
the Coalition; promoting the successful implementation of the obligations
under the Rome Statute at the national level; and supporting the successful
completion of the mandates of the UN Preparatory Commission.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of human rights or
related fields particularly in relation to the establishment of the
International Criminal Court. The candidate will have excellent oral and
written communication abilities in French and English at a minimum, strong
research abilities, cultural sensitivity, and will have worked in civil
society organizations, ideally in Africa. It is expected that the tasks
will demand intensive dedication, organization and the ability to juggle
many diverse tasks requiring a variety of skills. The ideal candidate will
have full time availability with flexible hours, and a high level of
motivation.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

ANNEX
Job description : Outreach Liaison, Africa & Europe

The responsibilities of the Outreach Liaison, Africa & Europe are:

1. Acting as the communication liaison between the New York office of the
CICC Secretariat and the offices of the African and European Coordinators,
as well as ensuring cross-regional collaboration and coordination with
other Coalition members working in these regions
2. Ensuring fluid communication between the missions in New York and the
Outreach Coordinators, as well as other CICC members, and responding to
requests for information
3. Determining ways to obtain media coverage of the ICC in Africa and
Europe, and working with the media consultant to obtain additional coverage
4. Providing translation of key documents from English to French and other
relevant languages, and vice versa, and assisting the Coordinators in
adapting information resources to increase their relevance to the region
5. Assisting the Outreach Coordinators in identifying the most appropriate
participants from the regions for the Preparatory Commission sessions and
other meetings, as well as with the logistics and arrangements to
facilitate their participation
6. Assisting the Outreach Coordinators with the coordination of meetings
with delegates from the regions, as well as special sessions on topics of
interest in the region during the Preparatory Commission and at other
meetings
7. In cooperation with the Outreach Coordinators, identifying potential
interns for appropriate positions related to African and European
coordination
8. Assisting in introducing new members from the regions to the work of the
Coalition and integrating them into existing national/regional networks as
well as holding initial information meetings with interested civil society
groups from Africa and Europe who contact CICC
9. In cooperation with the Outreach Coordinators, responding to e-mail,
mail, fax and personal requests for information from civil society groups
in Africa and Europe regarding the ICC, the Coalition and the work of
particular national or regional Coalition networks
10. Ensuring that Coalition publications such as the Monitor and ICC Update
are distributed to organizations based in Africa and Europe, as well as to
regional meetings and conferences as appropriate
11. Contributing to the Coalition information services such as the listserv
and website by posting information relevant to the regions, and to
publications such as the Monitor and ICC Update by ensuring proper coverage
of relevant issues
12. Assisting with the coordination of outreach to new constituencies, such
as women's groups, children's groups and others
13. Other tasks as mutually agreed between the Liaison and the Program
Director.
