The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:
§ At least 3-5 years experience in a similar position
§ Previous experience working for a civil society organisation, preferably at a regional or global level
§ Excellent English verbal and writing skills
§ Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task
§ Proven ability to use MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
§ High levels of energy and conceptual thinking
§ Experience working in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment
§ Ability to work effectively independently and as part of various teams
§ A proven ability to plan and think ahead, identify next steps, meet deadlines and objectives
§ Good interpersonal and communication skills
§ Knowledge of another UN language preferred.
The position is for a one-year contract with the possibility of an extension. Salary is negotiable and will be based on experience. Only South African citizens or permanent residents are to be considered.
Interviews will be held around the first week of December 2004. The successful candidate would ideally start work on the 1st of February 2005.
