THE COALITION TO STOP THE USE OF CHILD SOLDIERS SEEKS A REGIONAL COORDINATOR TO BE BASED IN KAMPALA, UGANDA
The Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers, which unites leading NGOs working on this issue, is seeking candidates for the position of Great Lakes Regional Coordinator, with significant project management and capacity building experience.
The Regional Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to assist with the development of Coalition networks in the region, and to ensure effective communication, consultation and participation among Coalition partners in the region and with the International Secretariat. S/he will also serve as a regional representative on the Coalition’s international Steering Committee and at regional and international events when appropriate.
The successful candidate will have proven project management experience, with the ability to manage complex and competing projects and deadlines involving inputs from different partners, including basic skills in budgeting and financial reporting. S/he will also have strong capacity building and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English are essential, as is sound political judgment, discretion and a university degree. A background in human rights, children’s issues and DDR is highly desirable.
While based in Kampala, the position involves travel for extended periods, including in difficult and potentially hostile environments. Salary commensurate with responsibilities and experience, plus social benefits.
