On 8 December 2004, the National Communications Board (Conseil national de la communication, CNC), Guinea's media regulatory body, announced the lifting of a suspension order against "Le Quotidien" newspaper. South Africa's system of social grants has reduced poverty and is playing a developmental role in uplifting poor households, according to a new study. The research was commissioned by the Department for Social Development and focused on the social and economic impact of the government's main social transfers, such as the State Old Age Pensions (SOAP), Disability Grants (DG) and Child Support Grants (CSG), among others.

The government has asked the Court of Appeal to reinstate the Justice Julie Sebutinde report on corruption in the Uganda Revenue Authority nullified by court on 16 August. The court reduced the massive report to trash on grounds that the three commissioners did not consent to it.
