Based in Aden, Republic of Yemen

Initial One Year Contract

This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop a new programme working alongside Yemeni non-governmental organisations and civil society groups. Working specifically with local NGOs in Aden you will provide training and capacity building support in organisational development, advocacy and assist local NGOs to co-ordinate and network with a range of stakeholders.

You will have a minimum of 3 years work experience with LNGOs in an advisory/support capacity and proven knowledge/experience of organisational development and capacity building within the NGO/CBO sector. Proven experience in training/facilitation methodologies and direct training ability and experience of liaison with a range of different organisations at a policy level are essential.

You should have a degree level qualification or equivalent diploma in a relevant discipline or education/training in specific aspects of community development. Understanding of the role which NGOs play in national and community development and advocacy, skills in strategic planning and participatory monitoring methods and knowledge/understanding of one or more areas of particular focus (human rights, women’s leadership, HIV/AIDS) are essential.

Experience in and knowledge of international and regional NGOs, of advocacy and networking, and of working in the region are desirable. Understanding of the issues facing a newly emerging democracy and Arabic language skills are highly desirable.
