The ONEWORLD RADIO CATIA Editor, based in Lusaka, Zambia, will be responsible for the development and high quality editing of OneWorld Radio English language websites, based with CATIA. Initially this will mean the launch of OneWorld Radio/Africa – a portal for African broadcasters to share audio and information – with potentially new portals in Year 2 and 3. Summary purpose of job:
The ONEWORLD RADIO CATIA Editor, based in Lusaka, Zambia, will be responsible for the development and high quality editing of OneWorld Radio English language websites, based with CATIA. Initially this will mean the launch of OneWorld Radio/Africa – a portal for African broadcasters to share audio and information – with potentially new portals in Year 2 and 3.

Editorial will include regular updating of all text sections of the site[s], in-depth research about African broadcasters’ needs and networking, report writing and membership recruitment and support.

Areas of responsibility:
Edit the OneWorld Radio site[s]; write content for site[s]; Write monthly newsletter[s] for members and subscribers, and also promotional materials; Research Africa-wide broadcast sector needs; Promote the ONEWORLD RADIO CATIA concept among the appropriate stakeholders in Africa and internationally; Recruit and support potential new ONEWORLD RADIO members, from all levels of the broadcast sector and NGO sector; Source, digitise and upload new audio to the site[s]; Support broadcasters by providing upload/download support to broadcasters; Provide training to OneWorld Radio CATIA members; Research and write materials supporting OneWorld CATIA objectives.

Essential experience and skills
At least three years’ experience of writing to published standard, good command of spoken and written English; Writing experience in Africa in development-related activities, creating a deep understanding of African development issues; Excellent communication skills with experience of relationship and network building in a variety of settings, from grassroots to regional level; Knowledge of Internet technologies and audio online [digital editing etc]; Broadcast sector knowledge and contacts.
