March 29 was a sad day... We lost Adrienne Rich, one of the most inspiring poets we were blessed with. She gave our dreams a soul called social justice.

‘Beyond the all-too-familiar message of violence against women, Amadi's epigram-clad poem is like the very best straight out of a Holy Book.’

There is no way President Wade can hang on to power for very long. Chances are the politicians will work out some deal.

Some say "African Unity Day"
Some, just "Africa day"
Whatever your choice,
here's to a freer, safer
united Africa of our dreams!

And, let's re-member
our dear Taju. The broda who chose
this day. He spoke words with spirits
that grew and stayed longer
than the baobab, inflamed our passion
for this land, spoke truth to power,
unveiled leaders who are dealers
in dream-trade, made history.

The broda who said NO
when a fake yes was a sure path
to our woes, wane and wail…
Here's another, to Taju!

We are a developing country…You say?

That we need
Time to mature?
Unity to develop?
Discipline to compete?

Hmm…when we have
Time
Unity &
Discipline

And…before we
Mature
Develop
and
Compete

Can we
Dance?
Dream?
Struggle?

Can we resist your
folly?
With justice?

From Saladin before to…
The Fearsome Genius (permission to speak in your presence, please)
We sought only a little destruction, a few mangled hundreds perhaps
But Allah gave us DESTRUCTION UNLIMITED…!”

This response comes down to funding projects, big and s...read more
