Post war northern Uganda has been economically and politically deprived leading to the exclusion of especially women in political processes. The inequity in access to resources and to positions of power between the sexes affects the structure of the country as a whole and must be corrected.

Although the numbers of women and men in Uganda are comparable, there exists a great gap in access to resources and to positions of power between the sexes. This inequity affects the structure of the country as a whole and must be corrected.

It is not necessarily land scarcity, but rather improper land administration, abuse of power and systems that are key land conflict triggers in northern Uganda.
